The Best Doctors List
Listing method since 1999: A doctor's name is listed when there is a recommendation sent to me via email (this can even be a self-recommendation but most doctors are not that brazen). The name is withdrawn when there is a complaint. In the future, there will also be information on the number of received recommendations per doctor.
Why should you recommend your doctor?
By being listed, your doctor will benefit from more referrals ("Internet" patients tend to be more affluent and able to afford "choice") so his/her practice will find it more economically feasible to continue emphasizing quality over quantity. You will benefit from your doctor having the financial incentive to keep up the quality of medical care s/he has been able to provide to you.
